Is my product affected?

Valor H5 gas fireplace

  • Brand Miles Industries Ltd., of Canada

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Miles Industries is recalling two models of Valor H5 propane gas fireplaces due to a hazard involving delayed ignition. When the pilot degrades, gas can accumulate inside the fireplace before the burner ignites. This buildup causes an explosive ignition that can shatter the glass window, creating a risk of burns and cuts to users. The recall affects Model 1150ILP with serial numbers 20001 through 20365 and Model 1150JLP with serial numbers 20366 through 21502. These fireplaces were sold in seven different trim and front options and feature a fully enclosed rectangular design with a glass front, log set, and mesh barrier screen.

According to the recall notice, consumers who own affected fireplaces should immediately stop using them and contact their Valor fireplace retailer or contractor to schedule a free repair. Miles Industries states it is contacting all known purchasers directly. The model and serial numbers can be found on a rating sheet located behind the trim.
