What happened

Office Depot is recalling all Realspace™ PRO 3000 Series Custom Fit desk chairs due to a pinch hazard. The mid-back fabric chairs, sold in black with SKU number 996-190, have an opening in the tilt mechanism where a consumer's finger can get caught. The affected chairs were manufactured between March 2009 and May 2011, and the manufacture date can be found on a label on the underside of the seat bottom, listed in Year/Month/Date format.

According to the recall notice, consumers who own these chairs should immediately stop using them and contact Office Depot's recall hotline. Office Depot will provide a free repair kit that includes a cover for the tilt mechanism. Consumers should locate the P.O. number printed on the underside of the chair and have this information available when contacting the company.

Affected chairs have a manufacture date between March 2009 and May 2011, listed in Year/Month/Date format (e.g. date code 20100812 represents August 12, 2010).
