What happened

Best Lighting Products has recalled certain emergency exit signs that can malfunction and fail to illuminate during a power failure. These fixtures, which are installed in commercial buildings like hotels and office buildings, feature emergency lights at either end with red or green "EXIT" text in the center. If they fail to work during an emergency, they would not provide adequate lighting to guide building occupants to exits.

The recall affects model numbers LHQM LED G M6, LHQM LED R M6, and LHQM LED R HO M6, which can be identified by labels inside the fixture housing and on packaging boxes. The affected units have date codes 1003S10, 1004S10, or 1005S10 on the inside fixture housing, or calendar dates from March, April, or May 2010 on the packaging carton. Consumers who have these signs should contact Lithonia Lighting to receive a free replacement product.
