Acorn Stairlifts Recalls Motorized Stair Lifts Due to Fall Hazard

Is my product affected?

Motorized stair lifts

  • Brand Acorn Stairlifts Inc., of Orlando, Fla.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Acorn is recalling motorized stair lifts sold under the Acorn Superglide 120 model name and several related brand names, including the Acorn 120 Stairlift, Acorn 120 Outdoor Stairlift, Acorn 120 Superglide Stairlift, Acorn Outdoor Stairlift, and Acorn Slimline Stairlift. These stair lifts were manufactured between March 2007 and March 2011 and have serial numbers between 110101209781 and 110202352678. The recall affects units because the seat post can separate from the main seat support, creating a fall hazard for users.

Consumers who own a recalled stair lift should contact Acorn immediately to arrange a free in-home repair. Until the repair is completed, consumers should assess their ability to safely use the stairs without the lift. If you can safely navigate the stairs on your own, you should not use the stair lift until it has been repaired. To identify your unit, check the silver label on the stair lift's carriage body cover or the underside of the steel footrest for the model name and serial number.

Hazard

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately contact Acorn for a free in-home repair. Until the stair lift is repaired, consumers should consider whether to continue using the stair lift based on their ability to safely use the stairs unaided. If a consumer is able to use the stairs safely, then he or she should not use the lift until it is repaired.
