Bentley Lingerie Inc. is recalling more than 30,000 girls' "Esleep Juniors" robes because they fail to meet federal flammability standards for children's sleepwear. The robes do not meet requirements to be flame resistant and to self-extinguish if ignited, presenting a risk of serious burn injuries to children. The affected robes are made of blue or green polyester in sizes four through 14, feature long sleeves and patch pockets, and display either bear cubs or a sleeping puppy on chest patches. They were sold at JC Penney stores nationwide from July 1998 through April 1999 for approximately $25 and can be identified by labels reading "Esleep Juniors" and "Made in Bangladesh" on the collar, along with one of these GPU numbers on a collar tag: 9816, 9817, 9818, 9885, 9886, 9890, or 9891.
The CPSC and Bentley Lingerie are not aware of any injuries from these robes. According to the record, consumers should stop using the recalled robes immediately and return them to the store where they were purchased for a refund. The robes fail to meet federal flammability standards for children's sleepwear. The standards require sleepwear, including robes, to be flame resistant, and if the garment ignites, the flame must self-extinguish. Failure to meet the flammability standards presents a risk of serious burn injuries to children. CPSC and these firms are not aware of any injuries involving these robes. This recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. "Esleep Juniors," and "Made in Bangladesh" are written on labels on the collar of these robes. The robes have chest patches showing either a pair of bear cubs or a sleeping puppy. They are made of polyester, either blue or green, and were sold in sizes four through 14. The robes are long-sleeve robes with patch pockets. They have one of the following GPU numbers located on a collar tag: 9816, 9817, 9818, 9885, 9886, 9890 and 9891.
