DeWalt Industrial Tool Co. is recalling approximately 25,000 of its 7 1/4-inch framing saws (model number DW378G) due to a hazard where the lower blade guard can fail to fully close during use, leaving the blade exposed and creating a laceration risk. The affected saws were sold nationwide from May 1998 through September 1998 at major home centers, hardware stores, and local retailers for between $149 and $175. These yellow saws with black accents have date codes 9813F through 9820F located on the bottom of the saw below the power cord. DeWalt has received 15 reports of the blade guard failing to fully close, including eight reports of lacerations, with at least three cases requiring stitches.
