Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman have recalled over 6,500 cotton terry cloth bathrobes made by EGERIA International because the fabric fails to meet federal flammability standards and may ignite readily when exposed to flame, creating a serious risk of burn injuries. The recalled robes were sold nationwide between December 1988 and February 1997 for approximately $220 to $330. They are labeled "Made expressly for Bergdorf Goodman by EGERIA," "EGERIA International," or "The DREAM Robe made by EGERIA expressly for Neiman Marcus," come in both kimono and shawl collar styles in short and long lengths, and are available in colors including black, navy, wine, teal, pink, yellow, light blue, white, and off-white. The companies are aware of four incidents in which these bathrobes ignited when exposed to flame, though no injuries resulted.
Consumers with recalled bathrobes should immediately stop wearing them and return them to any Neiman Marcus or Bergdorf Goodman store for a full refund.
