What happened

Keller Industries recalled approximately 29,691 industrial fiberglass extension ladders sold under the "Keller" and "Columbia" brand names. The ladders, which ranged from 16 to 40 feet in length and were manufactured between 1990 and 1995, have a support brace on the base section that can interfere with the rung locks, potentially causing the ladder to appear locked when it is not actually secure.

If the rung locks do not function properly, the ladder could collapse and cause a person standing on it to fall and suffer serious injury. According to the recall notice, affected consumers should stop using the ladders immediately and contact William Demeritt at Jacuzzi Brands Corp. at (909) 247-2033 or by mail at 13925 City Center Drive, Suite 200, Chino Hills, CA 91709, to obtain either a rung lock replacement for retrofit or, if retrofit is unavailable, a replacement ladder or refund of the purchase price.
