Atomic Skis USA is recalling heel components in multiple models of alpine ski bindings manufactured between 1998 and 2002. The heel housing in these bindings can crack, causing the binding to release unexpectedly. When this happens, skiers may lose control or fall and suffer injuries. The affected binding models are: Race 310, Race 412, RaceRace 310, RaceRace 412, Xentrix 310, Xentrix 311, Xentrix 412, C310, C311, C412, CR 310, CR 412, R 310, R 412, SX 310, SX 412, Device 311, Device 412, Centro 310, Centro 412, Dynamic ADX 312, RD10, X412, and Centro 412. Consumers can determine the year of manufacture by checking the underside of the heel lever.
According to the recall notice, affected consumers should stop using these ski bindings immediately and return them to any authorized Atomic Ski dealer. Upon return, consumers will receive a voucher toward a new heel component.
