What happened

General Power Products is recalling the General Power Products 6000 Watt portable generator and the Poulan Pro 6000 Watt portable generator with serial numbers 060400483 through 060600725. During shipment, the generator's fuel valve can be damaged by the cover plate, which may cause fuel to leak and spill during use, creating a fire hazard. You can identify your generator by locating the serial number stamped on the engine block at the front of the engine below the control panel. The General Power Products model has "General Power Products" and "6000 Generator" printed on the side, while the Poulan Pro model has "Poulan Pro" and "6000 watts" printed on the side.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled generators. Starting July 31, 2014, affected consumers should contact All Parts, which is now handling the recall, to determine whether their generator's fuel valve is damaged and to receive a free repair kit and instructions if needed.

Hazard

This recall includes the General Power Products 6000 Watt portable generator and the Poulan Pro 6000 Watt portable generator with serial numbers 060400483 through 060600725. The serial number is stamped on the engine block which is located on the front of the engine below the generator's control panel. "General Power Products" and "6000 Generator" are printed on the side of the General Power Products generator. "Poulan Pro" and "6000 watts" are printed on the side of the Poulan Pro generator.
