What happened

McCrory Stores announced a voluntary recall of Baby Walker Model PHT417, made for York Distribution Company, due to defective seat and strap designs that pose a fall hazard to infants. Approximately 103,000 of these walkers were imported nationwide since 1983. The walkers have a round design with a silver metal frame, yellow tray with three play dials, multi-colored animal print vinyl padded seat, and six yellow plastic wheels, with a silver sticker under the tray identifying the model number. There have been 30 reported incidents of the crotch strap slipping or tearing and the seat material stretching or tearing, which could allow an infant to fall through and become caught or entangled. One incident resulted in a broken collar bone.

The walkers were sold for approximately $15 at McCrory, T.G. & Y, J.J. Newberry, McLellan, H.L. Green, Kress, Silver, Elmore, Britts, Kittinger, and other retail stores nationwide. According to the record, owners of affected walkers should return them to the nearest store where they were sold to receive a full refund.
