AmeriGas 20-pound propane cylinders
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
AmeriGas Propane L.P. is recalling 20-pound propane cylinders that are white with a red, white and blue shrink-wrapped sleeve labeled "AmeriGas," "Prefilled Propane Xchange," and "PPX®." These cylinders could be overfilled during the exchange process, which can cause them to release flammable propane gas unexpectedly and create a risk of fires and explosions. Cylinders with a blue ink six-digit code just below the collar beginning with the letter X and ending with the number 7 are not affected by this recall.
If you purchased or exchanged one of these AmeriGas propane cylinders, you should not use your propane appliances and should not disconnect or transport the cylinder. Contact AmeriGas for instructions on having your gas cylinder inspected. An AmeriGas representative will contact you to arrange for a cylinder inspection and will exchange it for a properly filled tank if necessary. As a general safety reminder, propane cylinders should not be stored or used indoors or in confined spaces. If you see, hear, or smell leaking propane, immediately move far away from the cylinder and call the fire department from another location.
