Kompan Inc. is recalling "To Fro" model swing sets because the joint connection between the horizontal top beam and the vertical end bracket and support post system can crack and break, creating a fall and impact hazard. The recalled models include single bay through five bay swing sets in both 8-foot and 10-foot sizes, with model numbers beginning with S1-8, S1-10, S2-8, S2-10, S3-8, S3-10, S4-8, S4-10, S5-8, or S5-10 followed by additional characters. Kompan has not manufactured these swings since December 31, 2003 and stopped selling them on December 31, 2008.
Consumers who own a recalled swing set should immediately stop using it and remove the chains connecting the seats to the top beam. Kompan is contacting swing owners directly by telephone and mail to inform them of the recall and advise them to stop use and remove the chains. Kompan will provide all affected customers with a retrofit kit and installation instructions, and will follow up by telephone and email after delivery to confirm that customers have completed the installation.

The recalled swing sets include the "To Fro" models listed below with any numbers in the series of model number codes listed. For example, for the first entry, S1-8, all single bay, 8 foot swings beginning with the model number S1-8 would be included in the recall. Kompan has not manufactured the swing since December 31, 2003 and has not sold it since December 31, 2008.
