DeWALT is recalling five models of cordless drills because the trigger switch can overheat and create a fire hazard. The recalled models are the DC920, DC930, DC935, DC936, and DC940. These drills were manufactured during specific date ranges: the DC920 between July 23, 2020 and July 42, 2020; the DC930 between June 25, 2020 and July 46, 2020; the DC935 between June 27, 2020 and July 46, 2020; the DC936 between June 35, 2020 and July 46, 2020; and the DC940 between June 35, 2020 and July 46, 2020. You can find the model number on a sticker on the side of the unit and the date code embossed on the bottom. Drills marked with an "M" after the date code have already been repaired and are not included in this recall. Repaired units also have a green dot sticker near the UPC label on the packaging.
According to the recall, consumers should stop using the affected drills immediately and contact DeWALT to find the nearest service center. DeWALT will provide a free inspection and free repair if necessary.
