  • Brand Warn Industries Inc., of Clackamas, Ore.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Warn Industries Inc. is recalling eight-post contactors used in certain 2,500 to 3,500 lb Warn ATV and Utility Vehicle Winch Kits. The black contactors, which have a "WARN" logo on the top and bottom and Warn part number 62135 printed on the bottom, can continue to pull current when switched to the "off" position. This malfunction can cause the contactor to overheat and create a fire hazard. The contactors are located on the vehicle attached to the power wires between the battery and the winch, and are secured to the vehicle with four holes.

Consumers who own winch kits containing these eight-post contactors should immediately disconnect the contactor wires from the battery. They should then contact Warn Industries or their local dealer to receive a free replacement contactor. A complete listing of the winch kit part numbers involved in this recall is available at www.warn.com.
