What happened

John Deere Gas Barbecue Grills with model numbers HR-BG6203 and HR-BG5202 are being recalled because operating them in windy conditions can blow the flame under the control panel, causing the grill to overheat or flashback. This flame damage can rupture the gas hose, creating an uncontrolled flame hazard. Additionally, the control knobs can overheat and cause burns to hands. Both models are 52,000 BTU grills with 460 square inches of cooking surface. The HR-BG6203 features stainless steel doors, stainless steel side shelves, and a 10,000 BTU side burner, while the HR-BG5202 has stainless steel doors with black plastic side shelves.

Consumers should immediately stop using these grills. The model number can be found on the CSA approval sticker on the back panel. Affected consumers should contact Mi-T-M Corp. or the John Deere dealer where they purchased the grill to obtain a free repair kit.
