Cimberio Gas Ball Valve
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Cimberio S.p.A. and Dormont Manufacturing Company are recalling certain gas ball valves because when closed, they could open slightly and allow gas to leak from the inlet port through the outlet port. The affected models are ¾" FIP x 5/8" OD (15/16"-16 thread) Gas Ball Valve; ¾" FIP x ¾" FIP Gas Ball Valve; ¾" FIP x ¾" FIP Gas Ball Valve with Side Tap; and ¾" FIP x ¾" FIP Gas Ball Valve with Square Head. All affected valves have a red handle. However, testing confirms that when these valves are properly installed and connected to an appliance, there is no risk of gas leakage.
Consumers who have any affected products remaining in inventory should return them to Dormont. Photographs of the affected valves are available at www.dormont.com for identification purposes.

When one of these valves is closed, it could open up slightly. If the gas supply is on, gas will leak from the inlet port through the ball/seat and travel through the outlet port. If the valve is not connected to an appliance, and is not capped or plugged, as required by the National Fuel Gas Code Section 6.7.2.1, leaking gas will escape into the air. However, subsequent testing confirms that this potential for a gas leak is eliminated as gas flows through the valve. As a result, there is no risk with installed valves.
Return any affected products that remain in inventory to Dormont.
