What happened

Sauder Woodworking Co. is recalling TV/VCR carts because they can tip over and cause a television to fall off, which poses a risk of serious injury or death to children. The recalled carts are white, light brown, or light reddish brown and measure approximately 29 inches wide, 17 inches deep, and 25 inches high. They feature decorative hardware and trim with a top shelf for TVs 20 inches or smaller, a middle shelf for a VCR, and a lower storage area. The recalled models are 3355, 6355, 7755, 9855, and 9755, which can be identified in the instruction book.

Consumers should immediately stop using these TV/VCR carts and remove the television and all contents from it. To remedy the hazard, consumers should turn the cart over and remove the four casters from the bottom, which will bring the cart into compliance with current industry standards. After this modification, the cart will be suitable for use with televisions weighing 50 pounds or less, including most TVs 20 inches or smaller. Consumers should contact Sauder Woodworking Co. to receive a free retrofit kit and safe use information.
