Lasko Products Inc. is recalling two types of space heaters due to a hazard with the power cord connection. The power cord can overheat and separate from the heater, creating risks of fire, burns, and electrical shock. The recall involves the Model 5500 oscillating ceramic heater, which has dark gray vents with bronze trim and a model number on a label under the round base, and the Model 5700 oil-filled radiator-type heater, which has a model number on a side label near the right front wheel. Both heaters have "Lasko" printed near the top.
Consumers who own these heaters should stop using them immediately and unplug them. According to the recall notice, affected consumers should contact Lasko Products for instructions on returning their heater to receive either a free replacement heater or a product of similar value.
