CPSC, Sears Announce Recall of Electric Chain Saws and Electric Edgers

Is my product affected?

Sears Craftsman 14" electric chainsaw and Sears Craftsman electric grass edger

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Sears have announced a recall of two Sears Craftsman products: the 14" electric chainsaw (model 358.34114) and the electric grass edger (model 358.79650). The power cord plugs on these products may have exposed copper wires, which creates a risk of electrocution to consumers.

If you own one of these products, you should check the date code label on your chainsaw or edger to see if it is included in the recall. For the chainsaw, the date code is located on the back of the motor housing in the lower left corner of the warning label; only date codes 01227 through 01235 are affected. For the edger, the date code is on the warning label near the UL logo; only date codes 01234 and 01235 are affected. If your product's date code matches one of these, you should stop using it immediately and return it to the Sears store where you purchased it for a replacement.
