Yamaha has recalled 2015 model year YZ250 competition off-road motorcycles with model numbers YZ250FFL and YZ250FFW (available in blue and white or white and red color schemes). The motorcycles can experience engine lockup during operation, which causes the rider to lose control and crash, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.
Affected consumers should immediately stop using the recalled motorcycles and contact their local Yamaha dealer to schedule a free repair. The model number can be found on the left and right side of the fuel tank cowling, and the VIN is stamped on the frame near the steering stem, with the letter F in the 10th position of the VIN indicating a 2015 model year unit.
