Matrix Fitness Varsity series strength training machines
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Johnson Health Tech is recalling five models of Matrix Fitness strength training machines because the handle attachment can detach during use. When this happens, the detached handle can hit users with force and cause lacerations, or the detachment can cause users to lose their balance and fall, creating a risk of impact injury and fall hazards. The affected machines are the VY-6021 Lat Pulldown, VY-6042 Bicep/Triceps Press, VY-6046 Lat Pulldown/Low Row, VY-6099 Total Body Trainer, and the J7021 Special Order Lat Pull, which are used in commercial fitness facilities including health clubs, hotels, apartment complexes, rehabilitation centers, schools, and municipal facilities. The machines have chrome frames with stacked weights and overhead pulleys, some with black or blue vinyl seats and thigh supports, and can be identified by a white sticker at the base showing "Matrix" and the model number.
According to the recall, owners should immediately stop people from using the affected machines and contact Johnson Health Tech North America to schedule a free repair.
