Is my product affected?

Gas-fired hot water boilers

  • Brand New Yorker Boiler Company Inc., of Hatfield, Penn.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

New Yorker Boiler Company is recalling PVCGA model cast iron hot water boilers manufactured between May 2012 and February 2013. These green boilers, which use natural gas or liquid petroleum for residential space heating, have a defective air pressure switch that can fail to shut down the burners when the vent system becomes blocked. When this occurs, the boiler may emit excessive amounts of carbon monoxide, creating a poisoning hazard in the home. The recalled boilers are approximately 38 inches tall and 26 inches deep, ranging from 11 to 30 inches wide, and display the New Yorker Boiler logo on the front vented cover. You can identify your boiler's manufacturing date by locating the silver label on the inside panel, where the date appears in the upper right corner in MM/YYYY format.

Consumers with recalled boilers should immediately contact their boiler's installer, distributor, or New Yorker Boiler Company directly to schedule a free in-home safety inspection and repair. If you continue using the boiler while awaiting repair, you should install a working carbon monoxide alarm outside of sleeping areas in your home.
