Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

PT Domusindo Perdana has recalled 14 models of wooden drop-side cribs that were sold exclusively at JC Penney. The drop sides on these cribs can malfunction, detach, or fail in other ways, allowing part of the drop side to fall out of position and create a space where an infant or toddler could roll, become wedged, and potentially experience strangulation or suffocation. Children can also fall out of the crib entirely. These problems can happen due to incorrect assembly or wear and tear over time. The recalled models include the Jenny Lind, Christopher, Early American, Scottsdale, Sleigh, Kristin, Cameron, Solid Panel Sleigh, Roll Bar Convertible, Anniversary Convertible Sleigh, Spindle Convertible, and Bella 3-in-1 cribs, manufactured between 1991 and 2008. You can identify your crib's model number and date code on the plywood mattress board.

Consumers with recalled cribs should immediately stop using them and contact Modus Furniture International customer service to request a free immobilizer kit that will immobilize the drop side. Until the kits become available, parents should use an alternate safe sleep environment such as a bassinet, play yard, or toddler bed appropriate for the child's age.

Hazard

The cribs' drop sides can malfunction, detach or otherwise fail, causing part of the drop side to fall out of position, creating a space into which an infant or toddler can roll and become wedged or entrapped, which can lead to strangulation or suffocation. A child can also fall out of the crib. Drop-side incidents can also occur due to incorrect assembly and with age-related wear and tear.

What should I do?

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact customer service at Modus Furniture International to get a free immobilizer kit that will immobilize the drop side. The immobilizer kits will be available in May 2013. In the meantime, parents are encouraged to find an alternate, safe sleep environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on your child's age.
