LG Electronics Recalls Electric Ranges Due to Burn and Fire Hazards

Is my product affected?

LG Electric Ranges

  • Brand LG Electronics Inc., of South Korea

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

LG Electronics is recalling specific models of electric ranges because the burners can fail to turn off after being switched off, and the temperature setting can increase unexpectedly during use. These malfunctions create burn and fire hazards for consumers. The recalled models are LRE30451, LRE30453, LRE30755, LRE30757, and LRE30955ST, available in black, white, and stainless steel finishes with smooth black ceramic glass cooktops. The affected ranges have serial numbers starting with 512, 601 through 612, 701 through 712, 801 through 810, and 901 through 906, which can be found on a label visible when opening the storage drawer at the base of the unit.

According to the recall, consumers who own one of these ranges should immediately contact LG to schedule a free in-home repair. If a burner heat setting cannot be controlled using the range controls or if a cooktop burner remains on, consumers should stop using the electric range immediately until it has been repaired.
