GigaCloud Technology USA Recalls Merax Murphy Beds Due to Risk of Serious Injury or Death from Impact and Crush Hazards

What happened

Merax Murphy Bed Recall Summary

GigaCloud Technology USA is recalling full-size and twin-size Merax Murphy beds in white with model numbers GX000392AAK, GX000391AAK, or GX000383AAK. The wall-mounted beds that fold into a cabinet can have frames that fall during assembly or disassembly, creating serious impact, crush, and laceration hazards. The same beds may have been sold under other brand names including Euroco, Harper & Bright Designs, Modern Luxe, and Polibi. Consumers can identify recalled products by checking the SKU code on a sticker located on the inside frame of the bed.

Consumers who have purchased a recalled Murphy bed should stop using it immediately and contact GigaCloud Technology for a free repair kit. Those who have not yet assembled their bed will receive a repair kit with unloaded piston springs, updated assembly instructions, and inspection instructions. Those who have already assembled their bed will receive inspection instructions, and if the bed is found to be assembled incorrectly, GigaCloud Technology will provide a professional installer at no cost to correct or complete the installation.

Hazard

During assembly or disassembly, the frame of the wall bed can fall onto consumers, posing deadly impact, crush and laceration hazards.

What to do

Consumers should stop using the recalled Murphy beds immediately and contact GigaCloud Technology for a free repair kit. Consumers that have not assembled the Murphy bed will receive a repair kit consisting of unloaded piston springs, updated assembly instructions and inspection instructions. Consumers that have assembled the Murphy bed will receive inspection instructions. If the consumer determines that the Murphy bed is assembled incorrectly, GigaCloud Technology will provide the consumer with a professional installer to correct or complete the installation, at no cost to the consumer.
